Renos are hard.

This week I had to backtrack through the hallway and into the bedrooms. Of course this was after I had almost completed the kitchen but that will be there another day. It is Blaynes last set of days off before baby comes, and while my original dreams of a quiet weekend with my husband quickly faded,  I do feel slightly better knowing the nursery and the boys’ room will be painted and carpet laid before the end of the weekend.

I can only admit to feeling slightly better. Blayne thinks I have no faith in his promises, really I just look at all the other stuff that, while isn’t echnically necessary, needs to get done before baby comes. 37 weeks today means that baby could literally arrive any day despite my scheduled c-section. If there is one thing I learned with Hunter is that babies never come when you want them too. Plus, I look at my hard work in the hallway and kitchen getting filled with furniture from the boys’ room and I feel like, despite it being temporary, my work was a complete waste of time.

My other fear is that I am going to be busting my ass to get everything done up to the day before going into the hospital. Is it wrong that I just want to relax? A lot of this is my fault for not being ready to accept that this baby was really coming, but I still feel like some down time before hand is probably in my best interest. Sure people say they will come help me, but if they actually come they don’t help a whole lot; and I often have to redo anything that they do help with.  Oh well, for now I power through and hope that I finish with at least 1 nothing day before the baby comes.

On the bright side by the end of Sunday I will have two renovated bedrooms for my kids to sleep in. Hunter and Levi’s will be all set up and the nursery will be ready, aside from the furniture that is still awaiting delivery. Already one of the rooms is ready for the carpet to be laid Sunday. Then it is back to the cleaning/nesting schedule. I will have to work overtime to makeup for the 3 or 4 days I will have been put behind. I will have Blayne to help on for 2 days, so with any luck I will be able to make it up.

Renos are hard, on everyone but they are especially hard when your 9 month pregnant.  Or if you ask my husband I am sure they are especially hard when your wife is 9 months pregnant. It doesn’t matter though, it will be worth it when we have them done.

  1. Renos totally suck. But as you say, I imagine they really suck when your wife is pregnant. 😉 Good luck, put your feet up – surely it can wait if you really can’t be bothered? #FortheloveofBLOG

  3. Working on your house is hard work, let alone working on it when you’re pregnant with children to look after. In our first year of being in our house, we had builders with us for 8 months. We had no kitchen or heating during -10 degrees Celsius for 6 weeks over Christmas. It was miserable and only had garden furniture to sit on. But you get through it and out the other side will have an amazing home. I hope that the renovations are complete for you. Thanks so much for linking up at #fortheloveofBLOG. Claire x

  4. I have been thinking about doing some renovations around our house but I then I think why? The kids are still young enough that they will just end up destroying whatever it is I decide to do. Kids are so rough on houses. Thanks so much for linking with #momsterslink and I apologize for my delay in commenting as this summer has royally screwed my blogging schedule. Hope to see you again on Thursday!

    1. The destroying of the hard work is the hardest thing to deal with, it took 4 years for the one bedroom to be done after they had drawn on fresh drywall. Turns out you can’t just paint over that. Thanks again for commenting and hosting! #momsterslink
